This ballon motif is characteristic of the “ballomania” who followed all Decorative Arts following the first flights of the Montgolfier brothers in 1783.
This arabesque panel reproduces the ball used in the Tuileries on December 1 with two people waving banners. The original was printed on paper with wood board butted, probably by the factory Reveillon, whose gardens were the basis of flight testing and Etienne Montgolfier Pilatre de Rozier. This is a castle in the French countryside.
