Croisé Collobrieres

Savoir faire17/04/2013

Whatever the vagaries of fashion over the years, Pierre Frey has always been incredibly modern.

Perhaps nowhere is this more evident than with Croisé Collobrières – a truly timeless fabric.  First launched 50 years ago by our original founder, Mr. Pierre Frey, Croisé Collobrières is consistently a top selling fabric year after year.  For the company, it is an iconic fabric that represents the best of what we do.

So what are the qualities that make Croisé Collobrières a best seller?

  • The rustic weave is incredibly versatile, easily transitioning from a classic or modern décor and everything in between.
  • The range of 75 colors means the right shade for your project is always available.
  • It is a sturdy viscose/linen blend that has a soft hand perfect for upholstery or drapery.
  • It has a Martindale rating of 40,000, ensuring it will stand up to today’s expectations for durability.
  • The fabric is colorfast and consistent.
  • It is woven in France in our own mill – a mill that proudly carries the distinction of Entreprise du patrimoine vivant (Living Heritage Manufacturer of France) – and as such woven to the high standards that our reputation is built on.
  • A quick shipping time, as it is most always in stock.

“We’re always looking for new forms of innovation in terms of fibres, weaving technology and printing” says Vincent Frey, Chief Executive of Pierre Frey.  Nonetheless, Croisé Collobrières has proven to be perfect just as it was first created.  Building on it’s strength, we have created coordinates, such as the gaufraged Beaufort (F2162), the striped Cambon (F2736) and the new herringbone twill Vasco (F2882), Alicia (F2884), Annalisa (F2885) and Marietta (F2886).

Pierre Frey Acquires Maison Le Manach

Pierre Frey Acquires Maison Le Manach

Pierre Frey announces the acquisition of the esteemed Maison Le Manach, a manufacturer of woven and printed fabrics located in Tours, France since 1829. This recent addition expands the existing brand portfolio of Pierre Frey, which includes Braquenié (purchased in 1991) and Boussac Fadini-Borghi (purchased in 2004).

According to Patrick Frey, who now is the head of the Maison founded by his father, “our goal is to preserve the historic capital of one of the last great French Houses of furnishing textiles.” Le Manach is one of the last French Maisons able to produce French silks and velvets on handlooms. This editor and manufacturer of upholstery fabrics descends from a long tradition of silk weaving in France’s Touraine region which began with Louis XI. Although they produce in a time-honored way, Le Manach’s made to order collections span a range of decorative styles, from the great classics to fabrics with a more contemporary spirit. In fact their custom work with the world’s finest designers and design projects means that their fabrics have evolved with the design trends of the time. The quality of the weave, the choice of colors and the variety of designs has always attracted high-end professionals whose work continues to contribute to Le Manach’s international renown.

Le Manach was the first company to be recognized with the designation of “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant” (Living Heritage Company) in 2006, an award granted by the State to French companies who distinguish themselves by their craftsmanship and manufacturing excellence. This honorable designation is just one of the many similarities with Pierre Frey, who also received the award for it’s weaving mill in Cambrai.

In fact, both Maisons have a history of preserving French heritage. With their invaluable archival collections and passion for excellence, they have both contributed to exceptional projects, such as the renovation of the Châteaux of Versailles and Fontainebleau, the National Assembly and the Pailais de l’Elysée in Paris. Their fabrics are also present in many embassies and palaces around the world.

By acquiring Le Manach, Pierre Frey is proud to preserve and promote the know-how of a great French house and will continue to combine expertise and creativity, work and passion, tradition and innovation, legacy and future.

AN EXCERSICE IN STYLE

Pierre Frey & Laura Gonzalez On the occasion of the third session of Paris DECO OFF, a must for editors and creators of the interior design world to be held from 17 to 22 January 2013, PIERRE FREY revolutionizes its look and entrusts LAURA GONZALEZ, the young and talented interior designer, with the keys of its flagship Showroom.

This collaboration was inevitable!

Laura is enamored with PIERRE FREY and never grows tired of playfully using fabrics and wallpapers from the Maison for her various projects. As a young girl, she was inspired by Braquenié wallpapers in her parents’ home.

Today, it is with an astounding ease that she defies the rules of the game and infuses modern day decoration with an invigorating freshness.

Laura likes her sets to have a story, a common theme. Accordingly, immediately upon entering the showroom, she takes us on a journey to the roof of the world, in a tent on the heights of the Himalayas… A showcase of her creativity, the tour continues and leads us in eclectic and surprising places ; a boudoir, a chinese tea room, a child’s bedroom and a California living room.

A passionate advocate of reinterpretation, Laura surprises us with an elegant and unusual staged production of our new 2013 collections!

Teddy is a unique fabric from our collection.

It is also one of the thickest mohair velvet fabrics on the market and exists at Pierre Frey in 17 colors. It is also extremely durable and soft enough to be used on upholstery.

Teddy is as soft as a teddy bear and wears beautifully…

Our new window rue Du Mail Paris

Savoir faire05/10/2012

We played with the theme of the exhibition on Jean-Denis Malcles taking place in our flagship showroom “27 rue du Mail” until December 15th, but also with the collection, to do the décor of our window.

This exhibition is an opportunity to discover this artist’s colorful journey and the full spectrum of his talent. His favorite themes are actors, nightlife, Paris and the mysterious. Acknowledged as a theatrical designer, Jean-Denis Malcles also expressed his talent through posters, book illustrations, paintings, costume design and of course fabrics and wallpapers.

The fabrics used in this décor are from the collection that was just launched and which is called Vodka-Tonic.

We then used furniture from the Pierre Frey collection that would be inspired by the same period.

Roziere wallpaper

Savoir faire06/07/2012

This ballon motif is characteristic of the “ballomania” who followed all Decorative Arts following the first flights of the Montgolfier brothers in 1783.

This arabesque panel reproduces the ball used in the Tuileries on December 1 with two people waving banners. The original was printed on paper with wood board butted, probably by the factory Reveillon, whose gardens were the basis of flight testing and Etienne Montgolfier Pilatre de Rozier. This is a castle in the French countryside.

Here is the document and the new wallpaper from Braquenie.

Papyrus

Savoir faire04/07/2012

We gave the decorator Patrick Jouin few years ago a sample of a very technical fabric from the fashion industry.

He then asked us to make it in “fire retardant” for the project of the Jules Verne restaurant in the EIFFEL TOWER. After many strike offs with our supplier, we managed to develop this product that Patrick Frey loved and then decided to put it in collection.

This fabric is called “Papyrus” and is now from the Pierre Frey collection.

It is a flame retardant polyester fabric, extra-wide (276 cm) and three-dimensional like a “honeycomb”.
